My name is Frank Roberts, I work in Information Technology, specifically – Windows Network Administration. I’ve been in IT/Network Administration for 13 years now – DAM! It doesn’t seem that long.
In those 13 years I’ve worked in a variety of IT rolls, helpdesk, phone support, network assistant and finally network admin. In those rolls I’ve done a variety of jobs, Phone system management, Database Administration, Project Manager, and the list goes on.
For formal education, I have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems Management and an Associate’s Degree in Computer Studies.
In spring of 2006, I embarked on a new journey – part-time instructor at Portland Community College (PCC), In Portland Oregon. I’ve enjoyed the experience and learned as much as I’ve taught. So far I’ve developed new understanding of people skills & more in-depth technical knowledge. Teaching has been very challenging and I’m glad I was able to jump in. I teach three classes at PCC, Windows Server Administration, Windows Server Networking and Windows Active Directory.
In Fall of 2009, I transitioned to full time instructor in the CIS dept of PCC. It’s been a challenging transition from the corporate world to Academia. Certainly to different worlds and adjustments are in order.
Currently I hold the following certifications:
- MCSA (Microsoft Certified System Administrator)
- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
- MCP (windows 2000 Server & Professional)
- Network+ (By Comptia)
Current Certification Quest:
- MCTIP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional )
